Match Preview

Newly-promoted Verona have just one win from their opening four Serie A (SA) matches (W1, D1, L2), but are already three points better off than they were at the same stage in their 2017/18 relegation campaign. Ahead of the 31st H2H top-flight clash, the record is perfectly split (W10, D10, L10) though Verona lost ‘to-nil’ in both games back in 2017/18.
All four of Verona’s SA games this term have been level at half-time, with both teams scoring before the break in two. However, only one of those four matches produced over 2.5 goals either way, with just 0.75 (total) second-half goals per match on average.
Though without a goal in 253 minutes of SA football, Udinese will hope to carry on their record of three consecutive victories over Verona. Each victory (accompanied by a clean sheet) came after winning the first half.
However, the visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet since the opening day, and the main culprit has been the 15 minutes either side of half time. Four of their five SA goals conceded this term have arrived in that period, with those four goals against the Friulians directly costing them five points.
Players to watch: Verona’s Miguel Veloso has received a booking or scored in four of his five competitive appearances this term. Both goals came before half-time.
Udinese are yet to score away from home this term, but three of Kevin Lasagna’s last four league goals were scored on the road.
Stat attack: Verona have received three red cards in their opening four SA games.
They have also received 18 cards across the last six league H2Hs (16 yellow, two red – 3.0 per match average).
No Udinese side has yet lost against any squad coached by Verona manager Ivan Jurić (W1, D2). Both draws saw both teams score.
