Match Preview

Despite disappointing back-to-back results away at Liverpool and at home to Newcastle, Everton start the weekend inside the Premier League top seven following just two defeats in their previous nine matches (W5, D2, L2). Their 1-1 draw with Newcastle was their fourth successive game that saw under 2.5 match goals.
Manager Marco Silva has brought a certain ‘steel’ to his Everton side, with only the top-four conceding less than the ‘Toffees’ tally of 17. A rare error by keeper Jordan Pickford gifted Liverpool a late winner last Sunday, but at Goodison there has been no such lapse in concentration. Everton have successfully ‘shut out’ the opposition after the 65th minute in all of their home league games.
Watford face a daunting task as they travel to Goodison on the back of a five game winless run (L4, D1). The have conceded the opening goal in all five of those matches and have conceded two or more goals in their previous three games.
The ‘Hornets’ historically struggle against the ‘Toffees’, winning just four of the previous 26 meetings (W4, D3, L19). Additionally, none of those four wins has been away from home.
Players to watch: Forward Richarlison comes up against his former side having scored three goals in his last three home games for Everton, which is one more than he scored in his previous 22.
Watford cult hero Troy Deeney has netted just two league goals so far this season, but his winning goal was the difference when these sides met in February.
Stat attack: Everton have won 74% of their points at home this season.
Everton have scored two or more in four of their eight home games.
Watford have conceded six goals after the 75th minute already this season.
The four previous H2H meetings have alternated between 3-2 and 1-0 scorelines, all in favour of the home side on the day.
