Derbies never require much context or build-up, but Torino and Juventus face-off in Serie A (SA) this weekend with a lot riding on the match for both sides.
Torino have improved under Walter Mazzarri and are knocking on the doors of European qualification, just two points off the top seven heading into the 25th round. There is the added incentive of throwing a spanner in the title hopes of Juventus in this ‘Turin Derby’!
Juventus remain just one point behind leaders Napoli and are wary of dropping points. The 2-2 draw against Tottenham in the Champions League was a disappointment, considering they were two goals up. With mounting injury concerns and a congested schedule, Juve have a tricky derby ahead.
Torino are unbeaten in their last seven league games (W3, D4), while their last 14 SA games have seen them lose only once (W5, D8). Their home record is even better, having picked up three consecutive wins.
