Match Preview

Brighton remain mid-table (thirteenth) after the last round 3-2 loss at Crystal Palace and seven points above the relegation zone, but now begin a run of fixtures against teams in the top seven so must remain on their guard so not to be pulled into the battle at the bottom.
The ‘Seagulls’ [BRI] are not safe from relegation. Seven teams below them (apart from Huddersfield) have an easier run of games to close out this Premier League (PL) season. If there’s any consolation at this point, it’s that the bottom three have worse form over the last five games.
Unbeaten in their last fourteen PL games before they lost 3-1 at home to PL champions Manchester City at the weekend, Tottenham will look to resume their winning ways and keep fifth-placed Chelsea at bay in the battle for Champions League football next season.
In the last four head-to-head fixtures, Tottenham have scored at least two goals and Brighton have failed to score in the last two (in all competitions). Tottenham dominated the reverse fixture having 75% of possession and won 2-0.
Even though Brighton lost their last two home games, they did manage to beat Tottenham’s archrivals Arsenal 2-1 back in March. ‘Spurs’ [TOT] will respect their hosts and not consider it a walkover by any means.
Players to watch: Brighton top scorer and veteran Glenn Murray has scored 12 goals this season. He is, however, the only top ten PL goalscorer without an assist – can he provide both a goal and an assist in this fixture?
Tottenham’s goal scoring machine, Harry Kane, will be hoping for yet another hat-trick as he’s currently five goals off of PL top scorer Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
Stat attack: Brighton have scored five own goals and conceded 19 goals from set pieces – the worst record for both statistics in the PL.
The last five previous fixtures for Brighton and Tottenham have a combined total of 32 goals, which is a combined average of 3.2 goals scored per game.
