Match Preview

With fourth place once again a slight possibility, Chelsea are getting into the groove with two wins in a row. They travel to Wales to take on a low-flying flock of beleaguered Swans that is precariously situated just one place outside the Premier League (PL) relegation zone.
Swansea have the luxury of a game in hand, and enter the match with a four-point cushion between themselves and Southampton, who currently occupy the highest relegation spot. However, Chelsea’s good PL record (W8, D4, L1) against Swansea bodes poorly for the home side.
Six winless games on the bounce now for the ‘Swans’ have put them in danger, but their home form has been decent of late at the very least. Swansea are unbeaten in their last five home games (W4, D1), and have beaten both Liverpool and Arsenal here recently.
Antonio Conte’s Blue Army looked as if they had given up in mid-April after collecting just 12 points from 11 matches since the start of the year. Three wins later, they have revived their hopes for Champions League football next season.
With his team’s upturn in form, Conte has been unusually optimistic ahead of this difficult game, saying: “Maybe with this desire, with this will to fight, this will to get a result, we have the possibility”.
Players to watch: Jordan Ayew (SWA) has scored three in his last five appearances, and seven in total this season.
After a dry spell stretching over 13 matches, Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata now has netted three in six.
Stat attack: Nice guys! Swansea (43) and Chelsea (36) are two of the three PL teams this season with the fewest bookings.
Chelsea have been enigmatic in defense, but mostly effective in attack. Five out of Chelsea’s last six matches have seen the Blues score first and/or fail to keep a clean sheet.
