Two consecutive victories at the City Ground has endeared the O’Neill/Keane partnership to the Nottingham Forest fans (W2, D2, L2). Hoping for their first trio of home league wins in 16 months, three points here would be a huge boost for Forest’s play-off chances.
Ahead of this round Forest are the Championship’s sixth-best home team having lost just four times here this season, losing by a one-goal margin each time (W8, D4, L4). Here they face a Derby side in the ‘A52 derby’ who have won five of their six Championship away victories by a one-goal advantage (W6, D4, L6), but have lost two competitive games on the spin and haven’t won a Championship awayday this year.
Having scored and conceded an average of 1.31 goals per Championship away game this season, Derby road trips can be cagey, although both teams have scored in 68.75% of their fixtures.
The ‘Rams’ make the 20-mile trip in the knowledge they are unbeaten in the last six H2Hs (W3, D3), with the last two ending 0-0. In fact low-scoring affairs seem to be a recent trend between these two teams, with five of the last six H2Hs held at the City Ground ending with under 2.5 goals.
Players to watch: Fifteen-goal Lewis Grabban (NOT) has one goal from his last 12 games – he has three career goals against Derby but has never been on the winning side (D5, L3). Martyn Waghorn(DER), meanwhile, has four goals in 2019 and three career goals against Forest.
Stat attack: In the top-five offenders on booking points, Forest (98) and Derby (71) have had a poor season on the disciplinary front.
Forest are yet to concede in the first 15 minutes of any Championship home match this season.
There’s been over 0.5 first-half goals in 13 of Derby’s 16 away league fixtures.
