AC Milan haven’t lost three consecutive Serie A (SA) matches since October 2017 and will hope to preserve that record against Udinese, a side they have lost to just once in their last ten home league games (W6, D3, L1).
Thankfully for Milan, the two recent losses remain their only league defeats since Christmas 2018 (W7, D3, L2). Milan need a win to stay ahead in the top-four race, which is getting ever tighter, as ahead of the round just six points separate the teams from fourth to ninth.
Defensively, Milan have been very impressive conceding just 0.93 goals per game (SA). They have lost only thrice at home in SA this season (W9, D3, L3), all to top-ten opposition. Whatsmore, they have won all seven SA home games against bottom-half sides, conceding just four goals.
Udinese will be buoyed by three wins in five SA games (W3, L2). Ahead of the round, the bottom-three are just three points behind however, which will be a concern for Udinese who have the league’s joint-third worst attack (26 goals).
Of bigger concern is their away form that has seen no wins in ten SA trips (D3, L7) including four straight losses. Only two sides have picked up fewer away points than Udinese in SA this season, who have seen just 25% of their points come on the road (seven of 28).
Players to watch: Six of playmaker Suso’s (MIL) SA assists have come at home, while four of Kevin Lasagna’s (UDI) five SA goals have come on the road.
Stat attack: Both teams scored goals in a majority of Milan’s SA games (16 of 29).
In the eight SA home games that Milan scored first, they went on to win seven and draw one.
Udinese have lost 13 of the 15 SA games in which they conceded first, drawing the other two.
In 12 of Udinese’s 21 SA matches won/lost either way, the winning margin has been by one goal.
