Dijon will be desperate to end a six-game winless home league run (D2, L4), as they take on Rennes, a team they have beaten in the last two top-flight H2Hs held here. However the hosts hold Ligue 1’s (L1) worst home attack after averaging just 0.69 goals scored per home fixture so far.
Furthermore, Dijon have won just three of their 16 L1 home games this term (W3, D4, L9), and currently possess the division’s worst defensive home record after conceding 1.56 goals on average per match. To make matters worse, if they fail to beat Rennes here, it would be the first time in the club’s history that any Dijon side has recorded seven consecutive winless L1 home games.
Opponents Rennes are without a victory in their last six L1 road trips (D2, L4), and the fact that they have conceded first on five occasions across that period has hardly helped matters. Additionally, the visitors have registered a league-low two clean sheets from their 16 away fixtures this L1 campaign.
There is some encouraging news for travelling fans though. Rennes have scored in all but one of their previous 30 top-flight away games, yet both teams have scored in a league-high 81.25% of Rennes’ L1 road trips this season.
Players to watch: Dijon’s joint-top scorer Júlio Tavares (three L1 goals) has not scored in his last 28 top-flight appearances! Meanwhile, Rennes’ attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has seven league goals so far, including one in December’s reverse fixture.
Stat attack: Dijon have failed to score in half of their L1 home fixtures this term – a league high.
On the road, 40.28% of the shots on target (72) that Rennes have conceded were converted into goals (29) – L1’s second-worst rate.
Each of the three top-flight H2Hs held here have produced over 1.5 first-half goals.
