- Under pressure Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman oversaw a disappointing 3-0 loss in the Champions League this week, with his side failing to register even a single shot on target! Continental woes and the threat of being sacked are omnipresent, and opponents here Granada look set to offer little relief given that the Catalans have lost two of their last four La Liga (LL) H2Hs against them, which is as many defeats as in the previous 27 LL H2Hs between the two!
- The Camp Nou faithful will take comfort in Barcelona’s perfect start to their home LL campaign (W2), and in their domineering recent record at this venue, winning 24 of 25 LL home H2Hs (L1). Although the one defeat came earlier this year in April!
- It’s nearly 80 years since Granada recorded their joint-second biggest LL win (6-0) which coincidentally came against Barcelona. A win of any scoreline would do here as it’d hand the visitors back-to-back LL H2H wins for the first-time ever. From a wider perspective, a positive result would also kick-start their league campaign after an uninspiring run of results so far (D2, L2).
- The ‘Nasrids’ are yet to score a league goal on the road, but their shock 4-0 loss to newly promoted Rayo Vallecano in their latest LL trip would have hurt most. That added to a poor record of just two wins in their last 15 LL trips (W2, D3, L10), 12 of which saw them concede 2+ goals.
- Players to watch: With two league goals and an assist, Memphis Depay has been Barca’s key man so far. Whilst for the visitors, the namesake of former Barcelona star, Granada forward Luis Suárez, has scored both of his side’s LL goals this season.
- Hot stat: Barcelona have never conceded first in their 25 previous LL home H2Hs.
